Heart to Heart Card Drive

Carolyn King over at My Blog (well, her blog, not my blog, but her blog is called "My Blog"..forget it. You know what I mean), who lost her Grandmother due to complications from Alzheimer's Disease has been putting on a Heart to Heart Card Drive to thank the caregivers of Alzheimer's patients. Not only is this card drive for an amazing purpose, but there is also a huge prize donated from lots of good peoples! So go check it out!

My FIL (My hubby's Step-Dad) is suffering from Dementia, so this card drive hits very close to home. Unfortunately I only knew him a very short time before his symptoms rapidly progressed, but to see such a wonderful, self sufficient man decline into needing 24 hour care and rarely speaking a word saddens me greatly. Not only for him, but for all of the people who love him dearly, especially my husband, and my MIL.

For my card, I made a very simple one.. why? Because I want to make a BUNCH!!! My intention is to send one to the Artman home in Ambler, PA, where Carolyn's grandmother was, and ActivCare in San Diego, CA where my FIL is currently residing. I also am going to send some to the local homes around the area we are stationed.

So, here is my contribution for the Heart To Heart Card Drive!

Paper: Georgia Pacific White Cardstock
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Stamps: Stampin' Up Easy Elegance and Lovely as a Tree
Accessories: Spellbinders Nestability Die as a template

So I'm off to go bust out some more of these, and get them addressed and ready to mail on Monday... you should go click on some links and make your own cards!

At it again!

Been working on all sorts of stuff lately!

First, I got a pattern a while ago that I had been nervous to try out. It was actually for botique style ruffle pants, which I DID make (no photo since they are in the kids' room and I'm not about to sneak in and chance waking them up!) but I also decided to make them without the ruffle and Taylor could have some lounge pants since she pretty much LIVES in her PJ's if we are at home.

I love them so much, that I want to make some for ME! Only I don't have enough of any one fabric... maybe later!

Anyway, here are one set that I made.. I had this super cute flannel fabric that I had no idea what to do with, I absolutely adored it though. Who doesn't love flannel PJs?

Last night I was working on a couple of birthday cards with my Papertrey set Enjoy the Ride.
I can't give you all of the details though because I put away my markers before I wrote down what they were! I can tell you that the card on the right used Kiwi Kiss, Bordering Blue, Riding Hood Red, Pumpkin Pie and White . The second card used Peach Parfait, Tempting Turquoise (in place of Bermuda Bay), Old Olive, Early Espresso, and White. Both color combinations were from the colourQ website (in my blogroll).

The next few items are going up on my Etsy site, but thought I would share them here as well. two boppy covers, and a camera strap cover! I know my white balance is horribly off in these photos. Most of the lighting in our house has a strong yellow cast to it due to the globes on all of our lights. Things you don't notice when you look at a house in daylight! I try and do most of my photographing during the day if I can, but unfortunately that doesn't always work out with the kiddos. Do what you can, right!?

No new sewing projects planned for the next couple of days unless inspiration strikes me. I do have a few more cards I need to make and I MUST clean this craft space so I can find the floor again. :)

Last Nights Projects

I had a few projects on my to do list that don't take very long, but actually sitting down to do them is a different story! I wanted to make a zippered pouch with some of my left over laminated cotton from my chairs. I think it came out pretty cute, but I should have used some interfacing inside to stiffen it up a little. I have plenty of fabric left so I might try it again!

Next I wanted to make a camera strap and was searching for some tutorials. Then I found this fabulous one for padded covers! Now I can make a strap for every mood, or season... how awesome!

Anyway, these first two are a bit rough, but they will get better with time.

I had this Basic Grey fabric that I was dying to do something with but wasn't sure what. This was perfect!
Next I had some Alexander Henry fabric that I was originally going to use for something else, but the pattern is directional and ended up being too short for what I was going to use it for... oops! However, it was the perfect amount to fashion a funky strap, I love it!!

Next stop.. back to making more cards.. unless I can't stay away from these camera straps!

Revamping the blog

Well, since I've expanded beyond Pixels n' Paper over the last few years, I've decided to start a new blog and put the other one on hold for now. I still have my baby blog, but as far as crafting, this will be it!

The goal of this blog is to share my creations and offer inspiration to others. So many other blogs have been inspiring to ME, that I would like to keep the ball rolling! I'm so happy to be part of the wonderful world of crafters and bloggers. The internet is an amazing thing!

Previous posts can be seen at my previous blog: Pixels n' Paper.

Until my next post.. .ta-ta!
